Caterpillar

Start helping your kids trace the jar on the foam tray several times to create enough circles to make a caterpillars body. Then help your kid cut the pipe cleaner into several even sections. Help them fold the end of the pipe cleaner at a 90 degree angle to create a little foot.

Add sequins to the back of the wiggly eyes to look like eyelashes. Then glue the eyes onto one of the foam tray circles. Glue all of the circles together by slightly overlapping them one at a time. This will make the caterpillar body. Glue the feet to the bottom of the circles. Remember to use the pen to add a smile. You can also add antennae by cutting small pieces of pipe cleaners and curling the ends. Glue them to the head of the caterpillar. This recycled foam tray craft makes a fun insect with kids.

Lady Bug

Making a lady bug is an easy insect craft using foam meat trays. For this craft you will need a red foam tray, a black marker, scissors, white paper, a black pipe cleaner, and glue. Start by helping kids cut out an oval shape from the recycled foam tray.

Then help kids draw a line across the first third of the oval. This will separate the head and wings of the lady bug. Help kids color the smaller section completely black with the marker. Then help kids draw a line down the middle of the back of the lady bug to separate the wings. Use the marker to add dots.

Finish this insect craft by cutting two small circles and a tiny U shape out of the white paper. Glue the circles to the head like eyes and the U shape as a moth. When the glue has dried your recycled foam tray insect craft is complete.

Using foam trays for kids craft is a good way to promote recycling. It also saves on waste, and these insect crafts are a lot of fun for summer.
